ASIC verification environment consists of multiple abstraction levels and platforms. With time and growth, the maturity of these levels may separate, and different standards widen the communication differences across teams. There has previously not been a standardized way to reuse test/configuration between different teams if different methodologies are being used.

The Portable Stimulus Standard (PSS) was created as a way to standardized reuse between different methodologies e.g. UVM and SW. It defines a uniform way of simplifying the test scenarios by defining the sequences maintained at single platform and thus opening a common communication channel between teams.

Scope/Objective

The goal for this thesis work is to find out the effort and challenges to create a common framework for driving the stimulus and test scenarios through these different levels to be used in simulation at IP level in UVM test-bench as well as with C code running on a CPU. As well as compare PSS vs existing in-house methodology for reuse of test/configuration and compare things like usability, debuggability and effort to integrate.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge in RTL design, C/C++ and basic knowledge in HW verification.
• Some scripting experience is preferred but not mandatory.
