SPIRIT Programme
Offer to BTH researchers - explore how your research can create global impact
Participation in the SPIRIT programme provides funding for the 8-week programme where you explore how your research can make a global impact.
What is the SPIRIT Programme?
The SPIRIT programme is a national program for researchers at Swedish universities where you will work together with other teams in an 8-week training programme for commercial utilisation of research. The programme is based on other successful programmes that have been run in the US and UK for 10+ years with very good results.
You and your team get funding for the participation, equivalent to 80% of your full-time salary for 8 weeks. The programme is divided into two parts, 4 weeks of work and 4 weeks off, then you will work another 4 weeks. The workload is approximately 80% full-time.
SPIRIT stands for Swedish Programme for Innovative Researchers Impact Training and is a collaboration between BTH, Chalmers, Lund University, LTU Business, Luleå Tekniska Universitet, KTH and financed by Vinnova. The inspiration for development of the this programme is the I-Corps and ICURe programmes in US and UK.
During the 8-weeks you will learn:
- How to go from idea or research result to commercial utilisation?
- Which roles are necessary when you develop an idea, and what role could you take?
- How do you explain your research so people understand and want to know more?
- What do words like commercialisation, impact, utilisation and innovation mean in practice?
- How do you connect with external organisations and determine if they are interested in your research results and knowledge?
- How to combine research and business, and how commercialisation works.
- Validate your result
- Peer-to-peer learning
Why should I apply?
- The SPIRIT programme helps you to identify viable pathways to successful utilisation without having to create a company or seek funding for development.
- Successful utilisation of research results does not only mean potential income but also makes you more attractive for industry collaboration and helps you identify new sources of research funding.
- Get support in the exploration of the potential for global impact and take important steps towards commercialisation.
- Expand your network and write better funding applications.
- Discover and develop skills and mindset for successful commercialisation.
- Discover the interest in your research within industry, society, and other beneficiaries.
