Your computer
BTH encourages all students to bring their own computer that can be used in their studies. You will benefit from your own laptop, not only at lectures but also at other learning activities and in the library.
Below you will see what requirements your computer needs to meet for studies on your program. If you have questions, contact the program manager for your program. The program manager’s contact information can also be found in the welcome letter.

Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering – Structural Mechanics
Programme manager:
Ansel Berghuvud, ansel.berghuvud@bth.se
We would cautiously advise against buying an Apple computer, as engineering software is mostly compatible with Windows only and we have experienced difficulties in getting the software running on virtualized Windows installations on Mac computers. Apple’s new M1 architecture seems to make it even more difficult (or even impossible) to solve these installations. We are not able to assist with support for these problems.
