BTH linked sportstech project highlighted in European report
The Health and Sports Technology Initiative, a project linked to BTH, is one of only two Swedish initiatives mentioned in the European Sportstech report 2022. The project’s global relationship manager Stina Lundgren Högbom’s engagement was also highlighted.
The Health and Sports Technology Initiative project aims to make the county of Blekinge a hub for technological innovation in sports and health. Here, ideas will be utilized and developed and skills will be coordinated – all in order to produce technological innovations that can then be launched in the European or international market.
“We aim to develop new companies and our ambition is to become an interesting region – a good hub for companies in health and sports, says Tobias Larsson, professor at BTH.
In the European Sportstech report 2022, Stina Lundgren Högbom, expert in technical innovation and global relationship manager of Health and Sports Technology Initiative, is one of 34 individuals mentioned in the report. She is one “who are collectively driving the growth and the success of the ecosystem through their engagement in new and leading initiatives” according to the report.
The Health and Sports Technology Initiative is one of only two Swedish initiatives mentioned in any of the categories; investors, incubator programmes or innovation initiatives, according to the report.
“All in all, the report strengthens the idea that health and sports tech is an area that is strategic to invest in in the future. It also shows that BTH and Blekinge have a good chance of being a leading player, especially compared to the rest of Sweden, says project leader and PhD Mikael Mattsson.
Stina Lundgren Högbom is also asked to give her advice to startup companies:
“During 2022 my advice would be to stay focused, keep moving forward and be ready to take that consultant gig, so you will survive2022 even though you don’t get that funding you thought. I do hope I am wrong but as it is now 2022 seems to be a year of uncertainty especially for angels. You want to be ready and stay ahead as the world around us starts to mature and understand the power of SportsTech and how knowledge can be used in many more areas than just sport.”
