New publication on criminological theory

Johanna Börrefors, researcher at TIEK, has coauthored two chapters in the anthology Criminological theories and how to use them (Kriminologiska teorier och hur man använder dem). The anthology includes contributions from researchers in the field of criminology and examines the theory of rational choices, control theory, as well as resilience theory linked to risk and protection factors. The anthology also presents an overview of critical criminology and Chambliss’s conflict theory of structural contradictions and of cultural criminology in the spirit of Durkheim. Also included is a chapter exploring how literary and visual storytelling can inform criminological research. Last but not least, an intersectionality perspective in criminology is presented to analyze Christie’s theory of ideal victims.
