TIEK researchers publish new book on innovation policy
Innovation drives the Swedish economy forward. Policymakers, in creating a regulatory environment that is favorable for innovation, influence whether and how much firms innovate. The Handbook of Economic Regulation, edited by TIEK professors Pontus Braunerhjelm, Martin Andersson, and Johan Eklund together with Knut Blind, explores this complex interconnection between innovation and regulation.
The Handbook was presented at a seminar organized by the Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum, in which researchers and policymakers discussed the relationship between regulation and innovation. Pontus Braunerhjelm presented the Handbook, highlighting its key contributions to our understanding of how companies operating in different markets respond to incentives created by regulation. Sara Modig, Secretary of State for the Minister of Energy, Business and Industry, Ebba Busch presented recent advances in economic regulation and their implications for innovation. Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist, vice-speaker for the Parliamentary Committee on Industry and Trade presented challenges faced by regulators in promoting innovation in the present business landscape.
