Professor Emeritus is honored for his efforts
Nail Ibragimov, professor emeritus of mathematics, is honored for his outstanding efforts in mathematics. An education room has been named after him and for two days an international workshop in modern group analysis and applications has been carried out in his memory.
Nail Ibragimov (1939–2018) is widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts in the field of symmetry analysis of differential equations. He initiated and conducted major developments in this area. Nail was passionate and enthusiastic about disseminating knowledge about Lie group analysis of differential equations and its use in mathematical modelling.
Nail Ibragimov also published a textbook that is unique in its way of teaching differential equations for students. The textbook is translated into several languages and is used all over the world.
Nail Ibragimov was educated at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Novosibirsk University. He was a professor of mathematics at BTH during the years 200-02011, professor emeritus 2012-2018 and director of ALGA 2004-2018.
