RETHINKING THE PLANNER
RETHINKING THE PLANNER
What kind of planners are we educating? Major societal challenges influence how, what and why planning is needed? This might be obvious but it nevertheless poses new demands of the relevance of planning. Urbanisation, climate changes, rural depopulation, privatization of public services and spaces, increased inequality and segregation are some of the contemporary challenges that forces planning to adapt and take on tasks in new ways to accommodate these. Such a change force planners to develop and evaluate their working methods. This project examines students’ as well as practitioners’ opinions and expectations of their professional roles as planners.
